The Space

Nestled in the tranquil farmlands of Port Elliot, Jimmy Smith’s Dairy is a meticulously restored historic dairy farm offering a serene and luxurious retreat. The original brickwork, surrounded by gum trees, welcomes you with a timeless sense of peace.

In the mid-1900s, Jimmy Smith ran his herd here, and today, Robyn and Noel Akmens have transformed the crumbling structure into a luxurious retreat. Collaborating with architect Amy Grundy, they’ve preserved its character while introducing modern comforts. Noel’s bespoke furniture and Robyn’s meticulous interior design create a serene haven for guests.

As you enter, the master bedroom unfolds a creation by Noel Akmens, featuring handcrafted timber furniture and a striking double shower accessed through stunning, large handcrafted doors. Large windows frame views of the surrounding trees and land, bathing the room in natural light. The king-sized bed is adorned with high-quality linens, ensuring a restful stay.

Down the hallway, the open-plan living area showcases high ceilings, bamboo flooring, and bespoke furnishings that reflect the craftsmanship invested in preserving the building’s character. Every corner tells a story, with historical snippets woven throughout for those keen to explore the property’s rich past.

Slide open the doors to the deck, where panoramic views of the farmland and distant ocean await. Here, you can unwind with a complimentary bottle of locally made Port Elliot wine, embracing the serenity and bird songs that fill the air.

The property is priced for two guests. For those requiring additional space, a second queen-sized bedroom with its own bathroom and bath can be made available for an additional two guests, at an extra cost. Please contact your host, Alice, to arrange access to this room.
Maximum occupancy: 4 guests in total.

On-site parking is available, with lockbox details provided 48 hours prior to check-in.

Guest Access

Guests have full access to the entire property unless the additional bedroom with bathroom is closed. This room can be unlocked for an additional fee—please contact Alice if you would like to arrange access. Guests are also welcome to enjoy the gardens, including the Weber barbecue for cooking.

– All furniture has been handcrafted by Noel, the owner. Please take extra care when using the kitchen benches by placing trivets down before setting hot pots or pans on the surface to prevent damage.
