Stroll down the grassy path and you’ll reach the golden sands of Chiton Beach in moments. Spend long summer days swimming, surfing, or exploring the Fleurieu Peninsula’s coastal trails and wineries. Back at the cottage, unwind with a glass of local wine, spin a few records, or enjoy a lazy afternoon under the trees. Bikes are provided, and your furry friend is welcome too. Whether you’re chasing adventure or simply looking to relax, Chiton Cottage is made for easy summer living.

The Space

Welcome to Chiton Cottage, a soulful seaside retreat brimming with charm, light, and comfort. Think long, lazy afternoons on the sunny deck, ocean breezes through open windows, and evenings by the fire with a glass of your favourite drop. With lush gardens, big open skies, and bikes ready to ride, it’s the kind of place where memories are made.

Inside, you’ll find two cosy bedrooms with a shared central bathroom, a light-filled lounge with a beautiful indoor fire (wood provided), and a spacious kitchen and dining area looking out to the garden and beyond to the ocean. The fully equipped kitchen includes all utensils, coffee, tea, milk, and pantry basics ready for relaxed home cooking. All linen and towels are provided, along with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash for your convenience.

The activity shed is stocked with bikes (maintained and ready to go), games, and a few extras to enjoy on your coastal escape. The home is filled with books, games, local art, and thoughtful touches throughout. With a deck for BBQs, outdoor seating, and plenty of space for you and your pup to roam, Chiton Cottage has been a consistent five-star favourite and with a few fresh upgrades, we’re so excited to welcome you back.

Guests have exclusive access to the entire Cottage throughout their stay.

Neighborhood

Chiton is a peaceful coastal pocket perfectly positioned between Port Elliot and Victor Harbor. Just a short stroll from the cottage, you’ll find the beach — ideal for morning dips, evening walks, or simply soaking up the ocean air.

Other things to note

– Quiet hours are strictly observed from 11 PM to 8 AM—please respect our neighbours and fellow guests.
– Parties and events are not permitted.
– The maximum guest occupancy is 4 people and must not be exceeded.
– For safety, please ensure all fires are fully extinguished before leaving the property. The indoor fire door must remain closed at all times. Kindly follow the fire safety instructions provided in the basket near the fireplace.

This property is located close to the beach, where native wildlife—including snakes—may be present. Please remain aware of your surroundings and take care when outdoors.

Please be aware that the fire danger season typically runs from November through May. Fires are strictly prohibited on Total Fire Ban days. Guests are responsible for checking current fire restrictions online before lighting any fire. Any fines incurred due to non-compliance during your stay will be your responsibility, and the property owners are not liable for these penalties.

Getting Around

While the town centre is a quick 5-minute drive away, you can also jump on the bikes for a scenic 20-minute ride into Victor Harbor. The coastal cycle track runs all the way from Goolwa to Encounter Bay, offering breathtaking views and easy access to nearby towns. With its quiet charm and natural beauty, Chiton is the perfect base for a relaxing seaside escape.
